Level 2 - Mountain Bike Skills Program

**Participants must attend a Level 1 program prior to booking**

For kids 8 and up!   Learn the finer points of riding off road and tackling more technical features.

An intermediate level skills program that focuses on techniques that can be used on all types of trails. Skills include: Font wheel lifts, rear  wheel lifts, track standing and more. Kids will get the chance to  practice their new skills with a trail on cross country trails in the park along with other trail rides through the day. It is a requirement to have completed a previous Introductory MTB Skills program (and be approved by the instructor) to advance to this.

LIMITED TO 12 PARTICIPANTS.

What to bring on the day...

Water bottle (or have a 'Camelbak' style backpack),  snacks for breaks and a packed lunch.  Clothes that can get dirty, approved helmet, a bike that can go off road in good mechanical order. Your child must be able to carry water during riding - it is strongly advisable for your child’s bike to be fitted with a bottle cage to the 'lower' tube NOT mounted to the handlebars.

OPTIONAL INSURANCE:

We recommend participants take out a membership with AusCycling prior to participating in this program. A membership provides accident insurance and is a great way of supporting the sport of Mountain Biking in Australia.   Please visit https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership

IMPORTANT INFORMATION…PLEASE READ PRIOR TO BOOKING>>>

Recommendation for participants…In the lead up to this program it is recommended that participants prepare themselves by increasing their riding up hills in the lead up.  This will help them build their fitness as the intermediate program involves riding up hills.

Riders are required to have mountain bike with at least front suspension, sized correctly, with a front and back brake (no pedal brakes are allowed!!).  Bike will need a bottle cage fitted to the ‘lower’ tube (not mounted to the handlebars). Bikes must be in good mechanical order. An approved helmet is required (gloves recommended).

Parents need to remain contactable throughout the program.  You may be required to collect your child:

• if their bike fails and can’t be quickly fixed

• if they fall off and are not able to continue

• is not behaving or will not listen to the coach

• isn’t able to keep up with the group

The minimum number of participants for this program is 10.  If the program does not reach the minimum numbers within 1 week, the program may be cancelled and all participants will be refunded.

In the event of an extreme weather forecast such as high wind alert, bush fire risk, extreme heat, thunderstorms or torrential rain, the program may be rescheduled.
